NextGen Dublin Literacy Program
The NextGen Dublin Literacy Program is an eight-week program each Fall and Spring that works to enhance literacy skills among first-grade students at Riverside Elementary. Volunteers read with a student one lunch hour per week to assist with word recognition and story comprehension. The “Book Buddy” program has impacted many first-graders by promoting literacy and boosting self-esteem within young children.
The Literacy Program focuses on first-grade students who are emergent readers in need of extra assistance within the school. In its eigth year, the NextGen Dublin Literacy Program continues to grow. Both the students and the volunteers find this to be an extremely rewarding program. The Literacy Program runs for eight weeks. Each volunteer spends one lunch hour per week with a student.
