HR Executive Council Meeting
The Human Resources Executive Council is comprised of HR executives in our community who come together every other month during lunch to network and discuss the most urgent HR needs and issues in the community. Meetings are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and lunch is provided to all attendees. Thank you to Bob Evans Catering for providing lunch at this meeting!
Featured Speaker: Myra Wilson, Director of the Alber Enterprise Center of The Ohio State University on the topic "Silos in the Workplace"
Myra joined the university in December 2011 as program director for the Alber Enterprise Center at The Ohio State University on the Marion Campus. She commutes from Mount Vernon, where she has been actively involved in the community for many years. Myra spearheaded the formation of an informal human resources group in Mount Vernon to help local HR professionals stay abreast of the ever-changing employment laws and practices. In 2004 she was awarded the Athena Award from the Knox County Chamber of Commerce. As a former Mount Vernon Rotarian, Myra was pleased to be inducted into the Marion Rotary Club so she can actively participate again.
Myra earned her Master of Science, Emphasis in Leadership Development from The Ohio State University in 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communication from Otterbein University while working full-time as a human resources professional at Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon (now Rolls-Royce Energy Systems). Although she and her husband of over 35 years, Mike, are lifelong residents of Mount Vernon, her HR responsibilities with Cooper Energy relocated them to Denver and Houston for a few years. They returned to their hometown in 2001 to care for elderly parents. For eight years prior to coming to Ohio State Marion, she was with the Knox County Career Center Adult Education responsible for corporate education outreach and new career program instructional design.
She shares her solid knowledge of adult learning concepts, employee performance management, team building, customer service, and organizational development to help employers recognize their strengths and growth potential. She and her team at the Alber Enterprise Center offer knowledgeable solutions for enhancing those strengths.
