Dublin Arts Council Sundays At Scioto Concert featuring Davina and the Vegabonds
The 34th annual DAC Sundays at Scioto summer concert series continues Sunday, June 18 at 7 p.m. with Davina and the Vagabonds. The concert takes place in the outdoor amphitheater at Scioto Park, 7377 Riverside Dr., in Dublin, just north of the Dublin Arts Council facility and south of Hard Rd. The concert is free of charge and donations are graciously accepted.
Davina Sowers and the Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows, level-A musicianship, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Sowers’ commanding stage presence. With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, the band is converting audiences one show at a time, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe. The band brings upbeat nostalgia for older generations and fresh new music to younger ears. Their focused, clean sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments is novel to both blues and jazz worlds, and sets the show closer to New Orleans than to Chicago.
“Dublin Arts Council is pleased to bring these free Sunday evening concerts to our community each summer,” says Dublin Arts Council Executive Director David S. Guion. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to lounge on the grass overlooking the river and enjoy a fantastic variety of musical genres, from country and A cappella to traditional Celtic music.”
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the amphitheater. Dinner and dessert will be offered for sale from A Cut Above Cuisine German street food and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams on June 18. A portion of sales benefit the free concert series.
