Business After Hours & Business Person of the Year Reception
The March BAH offers all the fun festivities and networking you’ve come to know and enjoy at these after-work events, including delicious food and beverages to socializing in a casual setting with members of the Dublin business community.
At this special Business After Hours, those in attendance will also get to meet and honor Dublin's Business Person of the Year, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis, Ph.D. The Business Person of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual who has positively contributed to the betterment of Dublin’s business community.
President McDavis was instrumental in bringing OHIO’s Dublin Campus to the area, which has helped to create jobs and promote medical and technological development within Dublin. The new campus currently offers OHIO programs of the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Health Sciences and Professions. Programs from the College of Business and the George V. Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs will be available in the future. The 14-acre site is located at 6805 Bobcat Way on the southeast corner of Post Road and Industrial Parkway.
The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s first class of students at Dublin is expected to graduate from the Dublin Campus in 2018, the year a consultant predicts the school will reach a $26.4 million annual economic impact. It also is expected to create 145 jobs and $1 million in tax revenue.
The College of Health Sciences and Professions opened a new 86,000-square-foot Integrated Education Center on the Dublin Campus, which houses Ohio University programs from the various schools and facilitates academic partnerships with Columbus State Community College and other central Ohio colleges, universities and high schools.
President McDavis became the 20th president of the Ohio University on July 1, 2004. Upon becoming president, one of the first major initiatives he led was the creation and implementation of Vision OHIO, the university’s first comprehensive strategic plan. Part of this plan includes the concept referred to as OHIO for Ohio, a pathway to helping Ohio unlock its potential for greatness by providing access to the nation’s best transformative learning community for students throughout Ohio and beyond. The new Dublin Campus helps meet this mission.
