New Overtime Rules Are Coming! Is Your Business Ready?
The Department of Labor has issued new proposed rules greatly expanding the overtime obligations for white-collar exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The final rules are expected to be released in July 2016, with an effective date sometime after final release. Is your business ready? Do you know which of your exempt employees will be impacted? Brigid Heid, attorney at Carlile Patchen & Murphy, will help explain the new rules and discuss the impact on your business. You will learn which white collar exempt employees are impacted and how to develop a plan for your business to comply with the new rules and avoid expensive fines and penalties.
Speaker: Brigid Heid is a partner at Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP where she chairs the firm's Employment Law Practice Group and oversees Hiring for the firm. Brigid works with businesses to devise practical solutions to address workplace issues before they become expensive problems. She is currently serving as the President-Elect of the Columbus Bar Association and will be sworn in as President in June 2016. Brigid also has been honored by her peers with various recognitions, including being named one of the Top 25 Women Attorneys in Columbus, Ohio and a Super Lawyer® by Law & Politics Magazine; named a Best Lawyer in Employment law by Best Lawyers®, and elected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. She has also achieved the highest AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings.
