(Dublin, OH) – The Dublin Chamber of Commerce board of directors is proud to announce that Richard Taylor, AIA, owner and president of Richard Taylor Architects, has been named the 2010 Business Person of the Year.
“I was not expecting this honor,” Taylor says. “This is a very prestigious award, and it is a privilege to be in the company of the great individuals who have won this award in the past.”
The Business Person of the Year award is presented annually to an individual who has positively contributed to the betterment of Dublin’s business community. The recipient demonstrates superior leadership and service to Dublin and helps to make this community a better place to live and work.
Taylor started Richard Taylor Architects in 1990 and operates his office in Dublin’s Historic District. He is also current vice-chairman of the Dublin Planning and Zoning Commission, which works to protect the architectural integrity of the city.
His contributions to the community are seen through his efforts with the Historic Dublin Business Association, where he serves as a board member and Web master, and with Blarney House Charities, Inc., an organization Taylor started with business partner Bill Jacob to raise money for local Dublin charities. His past community service work includes residing on the boards of Dublin Architectural Review and SPLASH, a CAD software user’s group, and serving as Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 116.
“Richard is passionate about Dublin and that shows through his long list of contributions to various government and civic organizations,” states Margery Amorose, Executive Director of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. “He is an outstanding role model and community leader.”
Taylor resides in Dublin with his wife of 27 years, Karen, and their two sons, Max and Cam. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, publishes many articles on home design and construction, and is a current Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 200.
